Judging from his play this weekend in Pittsburgh, Mitch McGary (see more on Mitch HERE) is bound to get a ton of attention wherever SYF plays on the AAU circuit.
Friday night though, two of his teammates were arguably more impressive than their big man.
Glenn Robinson III SYF 6’8″ 205 LBS 2012 (Michigan Commit)
I did not recognize Glenn “Trey” Robinson when compared to the skinny kid I watched last summer.
Robinson was maybe 175 pounds soaking wet then.
Now he has a body that makes you envision a flying combo forward finishing strong on the offensive end with lock down ability defensively.
Robinson did just that Friday night against Upstate. He finished at the rim, often violently, through contact.
He intercepted passes at half court and found players running the floor ahead of him. He blocked shots and crashed the offensive glass for three put back dunks that I saw. He dropped in a couple of floaters in the lane and a jump hook. He seemed to secure every defensive rebound that McGary didn’t gobble up. He just flew all over the court for the entire game.
A superb athlete already, Michigan is getting one helluva basketball player in Big Dog’s kid.
Robinson told me afterwards that he’s really focusing on his ball handling and outside shot and that he loves the fact that he’s no longer playing to impress anyone, but just to get better so he’ll be ready when he follows his Poppa’s footsteps into the Big Ten. Almost every time I turned my attention to his court #15 was making a play.
When Robinson wasn’t making a play, chances are Adonis Filer was.

Adonis Filer 6’2″ point/combo SYF 2012
Filer is a beast for a guard. He’s a physical presence with athleticism to boot. He imposes his will on a game both offensively and defensively.
Offensively Filer controls things with controlled penetration, never seeming hurried or anxious he always found the right man to finish the play or would finish it himself when called for. He rebounded well for a guard and was constantly around the ball defensively, coming up with deflections, steals and forcing several turnovers by getting into people.
As far as I’m concerned any team would be fortunate to have a guard like Filer. He reminded me of a smaller Jaron Brown but with more quickness and ball handling ability.
Filer says he’s focused most on just “being involved and tough” and will be attending Brewster next year. Filer has offers from “Baylor and Oregon State” and interest from “Tennessee and Xavier.”
