The first Husky to be a consensus First Team All-American, the 6’9” Marshall was an athletic and unbelievably long player that possessed a rare combination of shooting and shot blocking.
As a freshman Marshall was eased into the lineup and averaged a respectable 11.1 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.5 apg, and 2.6 bpg. As a sophomore, Marshall started to come on, averaging 17.0 ppg and 7.8 rpg, as well as 37.0% 3FG, 82.9% FT, and 2.1 bpg. But that season was far surpassed in Marshall’s junior season, one of the best single seasons in conference history. In that magical season, Marshall averaged 25.1 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 1.3 spg, and 3.2 bpg, while shooting 51.1% from the field and 75.2% from the line. His 462 conference points and 159 fields goals on the season still are the best ever in the Big East.
Marshall left for the NBA after his junior season but not before accumulating 1,646 points, 695 rebounds, and 26 double doubles in his career. Was taken by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the fourth overall pick in the draft, and recently completed his fourteenth NBA season. He has played for seven different teams and has averaged 11.4 ppg for his career.
