EARLY SIGNING PERIOD CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS - PAC 12

Next up on our look at the early signing period results by conference is the Pac 12. Sean Miller has quickly put his stamp on the program at Arizona and reeled in not only the best class in the conference to date, but one can make the argument that the four-player class signed by the Wildcats this period is the best in the country (NBE will reveal their #1 choice tomorrow).

Here is a look at what has transpired on the recruiting trail out West so far…

Top 5 Big 12 Recruiting Classes for 2012:

1) Arizona
Commits – Brandon Ashley (PF), Kaleb Tarczewski (C), Gabe York (SG), Grant Jerrett (PF)
-Sean Miller hit a homerun with four top 50 players. The only possible knock is that Ashley and Jerrett play the same position and could struggle sharing the court but that’s really nitpicking.

2) UCLA
Commits – Kyle Anderson (PG), Jordan Adams (SF)
-Ben Howland was able to draw the East Coast’s top player across the country in point guard Kyle Anderson.

3) Oregon
Commits – Dominic Artis (PG), Ben Carter (PF), Damyean Dotson (SF)
-UCLA’s loss is Oregon’s gain as former UCLA commit Dominic Artis headlines this 3 man class.

4) Stanford
Commits – Rosco Allen (SF), Grant Verhoeven (PF), Christian Sanders (SG)
-This is quite an impressive haul for Johnny Dawkins, who also just hosted Amile Jefferson on an official visit last weekend, given the strict academic standards at Stanford.

5) Colorado
Commits – Xavier Johnson (SF), Josh Scott (C), Wesley Gordon (PF), Xavier Talton (PG), Chris Jenkins (SF)
-A well rounded five man class for the Buffs and perhaps more importantly a dip into the powerhouse Dream Vision AAU program with lefty wing Xavier Johnson.

Top 10 Pac 12 Impact Recruits of 2012 Class:

1) Kyle Anderson (UCLA) – Bruins fans are going to fall in love with the 6’8” point guard aptly nicknamed “Slo-mo.” A coach’s son, Anderson possesses the highest basketball IQ of anyone in the class playing basketball like an expert game of chess, constantly 2 and 3 moves ahead of the competition.

2) Brandon Ashley (Arizona) – A highly athletic 6’8” forward, Ashley will wow crowds at Arizona’s McHale Center with above the rim finishes and his smooth, effortless style.

3) Kaleb Tarczewski (Arizona) – Tarczewski is the rare big man who knows he’s a big man and does all his damage in the paint as perhaps the truest center in the 2012 class.

Gabe York is one of four top 50 players commited to Arizona, here, York is on the move in NBA Top 100 camp action last June

4) Gabe York (Arizona) – The third consecutive Wildcat on this list, York is small in stature but back down form no one and can fill it up with the best of them. He should remind a lot of Arizona fans of the way Jason Terry plays the game.

5) Rosco Allen (Stanford) – Highly skilled for a 6’8” player, Allen can make shots and create plays from all over the floor but does need to add strength for the college game.

6) Jordan Adams (UCLA) – Adams is a physical wing who can flat out shoot the ball and figures to benefit from the open looks created by Kyle Anderson.

7) Demarquise Johnson (Washington State) – The West Coast’s best kept secret, Johnson can do it all on the offensive end and should have immediate impact for the Cougars.

8} Xavier Johnson (Colorado) – Johnson is an athletic, lefty wing who isn’t afraid to do the dirty work in the paint. He’s an above average defender and rebounder for the small forward position.

9) Dominic Artis (Oregon) – The second member of the famed Oakland Soldiers AAU club to choose the Ducks in two years (Jabari Brown), Artis is a point guard that can push the tempo and knock down open shots.

10) Ben Carter (Oregon) – Carter is a combo forward who can create offense for others and has a very high skill level for a big man.
