REEBOK BREAKOUT CHALLENGE: THURSDAY RECRUITING ROUNDUP

The return to the summer basketball camp scene by Reebok has been well received. The competition and talent level is certainly solid at the Gallagher Athletic Center on the campus of Philadelphia University. NBE took in the action for the most part of the day Thursday and was able to touch base with many of the players to learn the latest on their recruitments. While the camp had a strong group of Mid-Major+ prospects, there was more than a fair share of players who will land at higher levels in college. Below is a rundown of who we caught up with yesterday.
Rysheed Jordan (Robert Vaux HS/Players Teaching Players)
There was a lot of hype centering Jordan entering the camp and many scouts, reporters and college coaches were anxious to get a look at him. He did not disappoint as the 6-foot-3, Class of 2013 point guard has all the look of a sure fire high major recruit. He has definitely noticed the increased attention of late.
“I think I’m blowing up,” said Jordan of the recent influx of recruiting attention. “I’m easing my way up.”
Drexel, La Salle, Temple, St. Joseph’s, Seton Hall, Pittsburgh, St. John’s, Arizona and Georgetown were mentioned by Jordan on Thursday and he noted “a lot of other schools” are just getting involved now too.
Jordan also mentioned he is supposed to visit St. John’s and Georgetown before the summer is out.
Jordan responded “yes,” when asked by NBE if it was his goal to play at a high major conference. He is well on his way to accomplishing that goal.

Neville Fincher (Teaneck HS/Team Izod-Sports U)
The 6-foot-8 New Jersey big man is picking up new offers and interest on the recruiting trail as a Class of 2012 prospect.
“This past week I got offers from Robert Morris and Towson,” said Fincher. “I’m getting looks from Tennessee, Clemson and Villanova.”
The recent uptiock in interest sits well with Fincher as he sees himself playing in a conference at the highest level in college.
“I see myself as a Big East player,” he said. “I just really want to play my role and whatever a college needs me to do that’s what I’m going to do.”

Reggie Cameron (Hudson Catholic HS/NJ Playaz)
The smooth 6-foot-5 pure shooter continues to pile up recruiting interest along with some impressive offers.
“I’ve just recently picked up some interst from Tennessee, Florida, Notre Dame, West Virginia and Marquette…and Pitt,” said Cameron. “And I’ve recently picked up offers from Villanova, Cincinnati, Seton Hall, Rutgers, and Providence, DePaul, Xavier and Northwestern.”
Although only in the Class of 2013 and a ways from scheduling official visits, one school stands out and he would definitely like to eventually make it one of his five official visits.
Villanova is a great school. It is about an hour and a half from my house,” said Cameron.

Chris Bolden (North Gwinnett/Georgia Stars)
The former Miami commit has made a strong impression in Philly with his shooting skills. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard is one of the top shooters in the Class of 2012 and is seeing significant high-major interest since re-opening his recruitment.
“I’m talking to Miami, South Carolina, Oles Miss, George Mason, Marquette [and] Tennessee,” said Bolden. “Those are the ones I talk to regularly.”
Bolden is planning to make his decision between now and September and has taken unofficial visits to Georgia Tech, Miami, South Carolina and Ole Miss.

Kavon Stewart (Hudson Catholic/NJ Playaz)
The high school and AAU teammat of Reggie Cameron listedCincinnati, Seton Hall, Rutgers, UMASS, Xavier, Virginia, Temple, Towson and St. Joseph’s as schools involved with his recruitment.
Expectations are high for Hudson Catholic, who also add a third NJ Playaz star from the ’13 recruiting class in Mike Young this season.
“I think we got a shot at the state title [this season],” said Stewart, a 5-foot-10 point guard.

TreShawn Bolden (Murrah HS/Southern Phenoms AAU)
One of the better prospects at the Reebok Breakout Challenge this week was the Jackson (MS) native. The 6-foot-8, 215-pound power forward also plans to play WR/TE on the football field this fall.
Bolden told NBE he already holds offers from “Marquette, DePaul, Mississippi State, UConn and a couple more.”
With a 7-foot-2 wingspan expect him to be as effective with the endzone fade route this fall as he is grabbing rebounds in the winter.

Recruiting Quick Hits:
Tariq Carey the 6-foot-2 combo guard headed to St. Benedict’s this fall told NBE he has talked to SMU, Marshall and UNC-Charlotte recently……….Out of Hales Franciscan in Chicago and a member of Mac Irvin Fire, Aaric Armstead has a solid list of schools. Armstead recently picked up an offer from Colorado State to join Wisc.-Green Bay, Nevada, New Mexico and Indiana State. Wichita State, Nebraska, Iowa and Illinois have been looking at the ’12 shooting guard as well……..Horace Spencer III is already considered one of the next big time recruits in the country. The rising freshman already has heard from North Carolina, Ohio State, Virginia Tech and others. Already 6’8 with a 7-foot-3 wingspan the potential of Spencer is through the roof……………Darrick Wood is hearing from nearly the entire BIG EAST. The 2012 shooting guard who attends NIA Prep and runs on the AAU circuit with the NJ Playaz specifically listed Oklahoma State, Baylor, Louisville, USC, West Virginia, Connecticut and he has taken an unofficial visit to Seton Hall…………….Kamari Murphy, a 6-foot-8 PF originially from NYC, listed Oklahoma State, Miami, Florida, Iowa, Arizona, Temple and Florida State…………….A thigh bruise has kept versatile Brandon Austin out of action. Austin, who plays with Team Philly on the AAU trail, is a Class of 2013 prospect we would have expected to ‘Breakout’ at the camp. He gave NBE a current school list of Wake Forest, Miami, North Carolina, Rutgers, Villanova, Syracuse, Drexel and Temple.
