Malcolm Gilbert

Scouting Reports: May 2010 - Gilbert is still somewhat raw down low on the offensive end, but he has the makings of a dominant post player. Early in the game, he missed several put-backs and lay-ups around the rim, but adjusted as the game went on, getting multiple baskets on dunks in the second half. He is somewhat awkward when he puts the ball on the floor, but showed some handle late in the game. Gilbert also had an impressive jump hook off a spin move. Defensively, Gilbert uses his athleticism and 6-11 size to block shots (Jeff Borzello at Philly Underclass AS Game).

July 2009 - Malcolm, like many young big men, needs some work and proper guidance and tutelage. At times Gilbert looked like a complete stud under the basket, blocking shots, guarding the easy basket. At times, he would miss a step and completely forget about the man he was guarding, or the backdoor cutter when running a zone. He only shot from outside the paint several times, and missed both, but did a great job of following his shot and keeping the ball alive. He did a good job at getting position for the rebound, and showed some physicality on Jared Sullinger (6-9, 262 lbs) in the afternoon scrimmage (Anthony Jaskulski at LJSA).
