JAMIE DIXON RESISTS SPIN ON COACHING CAROUSEL

Chris Dokish takes a look at the Pittsburgh coaching position, currently manned by Jamie Dixon, the assistant that took over for Ben Howland five seasons ago. Dixon led the Panthers to the Big East Conference Tournament Championship and into the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive season in 2007-2008.

ST. BENEDICTS’ BIG MAN TO VISIT RUTGERS

Rutgers is in dire need of frontcourt help, and the Scarlet Knights will get a crack at impressing one of the top big men in New Jersey when 6-9 junior Greg Echenique of St. Benedict’s visits campus Thursday.

“His family is in town and they’re going there for a visit, and it’s important,” St. Benedict’s coach Danny Hurley said Monday night after watching his father’s team, St. Anthony, win the Tournament of Champions with a 69-36 victory over Newark Science. “It’s an important day for Rutgers to make a big impact.”

Echenique has already been to Rutgers by himself on several occasions. Now his parents are visiting from Venezuela and the family has already taken a trip to Penn.

SIGHTS & SOUNDS FROM MSG: PICTORIAL

Ray Floriani spent Wednesday night and Friday night in Madison Square Garden and provided us with two nights of coverage with his Sights & Sounds from Madison Square Garden from the opening night and the Semis.

NEW YORK CITY – The championship game will be a rematch of last season. Pitt will be returning to the finals and appearing in its seventh Big East Tournament title game in the last eight years. Georgetown, looking very formidable these past two days, aims to defend the title and secure a number one seed in the NCAA tournament
