Here is a quick tour of what is newsworthy on this Friday afternoon…
A hastily called press conference at Connecticut this afternoon for 2 PM had rumors flying across the internet landscape regarding the health of UConn coach Jim Calhoun. The Hall of Fame coach has had health battles previously, including a battle with prostate cancer in 2003. To clear up rumors about his health, it was disclosed that Jim Calhoun Has Been Treated for Skin Cancer (uconnhuskies.com). With six weeks of radiation treatments to begin next month, Calhoun and his doctors do not expect the coach, in his 22nd year at Connecticut, to miss any time from his coaching duties.
