Came from a troubled background, including a jail stint, to become one of the best players in UConn history. Butler only played two seasons for the Huskies but it was a highly productive two years. As a freshman, the 6’7” forward led UConn in points and rebounds, with 15.6 ppg ,7.5 rpg, 3.1 apg, 2.2 spg, and 75.4% from the line. As a sophomore, he was even better with 20.3 points and once again 7.5 rebounds, to go along with 3.0 apg, 2.1 spg, 40.0% from three, and 77.9% from the line. Those totals helped him share Big East Player of the Year honors. He also showed that he played best when the lights were the brightest by having a four game average of 26.5 ppg, a school best, in the 2002 NCAA tournament.

His two year totals were 1,136 total points and 477 total rebounds, for career averages of 18.0 ppg and 7.6 rpg. He also averaged 2.1 spg over his career. Butler left after his sophomore season and was the 10th overall pick in the NBA draft. Picked 10th overall by the Miami Heat, he currently plays for the Washington Wizards where continues to be a success both off and on the court. He currently has a six year average of 16.0 ppg and has been named to the last two all-star games.
