Derrick Randall

Scouting Reports:
Oct 2009 - Randall was an absolutely dominant force around the rim at both ends. He blocked multiple shots and completely controlled the backboards. He had several easy baskets off of put-backs or dump-offs by his guards. His defensive presence was a major factor in New Jersey’s win and his ability to get rebounds was key. The lefty showed off his athleticism and leaping ability (Jeff Borzello at Eddie Griffin Challenge).
June 2009 - Randall, a solid big man, is adept at getting position and moves around well in the post, with or without the ball. He can finish well inside, with both hands. Randall has a strong body that he uses to score over inferior opponents. He does play solid defense, but he had a propensity to commit touch fouls that forced him to head to the bench with early foul trouble. As the lefty gets more disciplined, he will be very solid down low (Jeff Borzello at Metro HBC HS Shootout).
April 2009 - Derrick is just starting out, and although he hasn’t received any firm offers yet, don’t expect that to last. He has a very big frame and plenty of room to grow. He showed everything you expect out of a solid defender in the paint and more this weekend. If he can develop a better offensive game to go with his smooth mid-range jump shot and his quick hands, Randall may end up at the top of a lot of D-1 schools lists in the next couple of years (Anthony Jaskulski at Pittsburgh Jamfest).
