BIG EAST NEWS & NOTES

Ron Cook of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writes about the return of Carl Krauser to the Pitt basketball program for next season (LINK) and the advantages it brings the Panthers. The news has surprised me, as I was counting on the Panthers being without Krauser next season. This improves their pre-season standing in my opinion, although I still see them as a bubble team heading into the season, it definitely seperates them a little more from the 9th, 10th, 11th, etc place teams and gets them in the mix for a top 6 or 7 standing in the league, which would still be a very nice accomplishment. Georgetown and Notre Dame have the easier conference schedules that would probably keep them ahead of Pitt in my pre-season forecast, but this becomes a very interesting Pitt team, in my opinion.
Cincinnati Post reports on the reinstatement of Keith LeGree to Bob Huggins’ coaching staff at UC (STORY). LeGree was suspended from an alleged DUI arrest of last March when officers found him asleep in his car. LeGree has been diagnosed with a sleeping disorder and his DUI charge was dropped. LeGree was reinstated by the UC athletic director Bob Goin and will resume his coaching duties.

More UC news: The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that 6′2 PG Chadd Moore is considering a return to the floor for the Bearcats this season. Moore, the Alabama native, was forced to leave the team last February due to chronic back pain and was averaging 3.3 PPG and 2.5 assists. He is currently playing a couple times a week in a summer league and will take his time on the decision (LINK). Moore would be a welcome addition back to the program, if healthy, and the Bearcats could use the depth and experience. He could also take a year off and return in the future if his back continues to heal. There is also a story on a Cincinnati summer league that has many current and former UC players competing (Deveroes Summer League).
