Things continue to be slow on the recruiting trail, but there is still a bit of high school hoops news from the past week or so to go over.

First off, Leron Black of White Station (TN) has decommitted from Baylor, per John Martin of the The Commercial Appeal. Black is a 6-foot-7 power forward who ranks No. 13 in the NBE Sports Class of 2014 Post-July Top 75. He was amongst the top non-senior players in American who had made a decision, but he is now back on the board.

Kameron Rooks of Mission Hills (CA) tweeted his intentions to attend Cal. Rooks is a 7-foot class of 2013 center who picked the Bears over a few other programs in the Pac-12. His father is former Arizona standout Sean Rooks.

Hofstra picked up a pledge from 6-foot-1 guard Iverson Fleming, per Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog.com. Fleming is a class of 2013 prospect from New Brunswick (NJ).

HoopsJuco.com had the news that 2013 JuCo prospect Alex Perez popped for Southern Miss. Perez is a 6-foot-3 combo guard out of Fresno City College (CA).

Another 2013 JuCo recruit, Quinton Upshur, has opted for Northern Arizona, according to Brad Winton of JuCoRecruiting.com. Upshur, who attends Kilgore College (TX), is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard.

Wes Dickinson of Peddie School (NJ) made a verbal commitment to Dartmouth on New Year’s Eve, per Adam Finkelstein of the New England Recruit Report. Dickinson is a 6-foot-6 power forward in the class of 2013.

As for some major high school transfer news, Ben Simmons is coming to the United States. Hoopniks, amongst others, reported that the 6-foot-8 class of 2015 power forward was headed to Montverde Academy (FL). Simmons is a native of Australia who broke out at the 2012 Pangos All-American Camp and is regarded by some as the best player in the sophomore class.

Isaiah Watkins will not be returning to St. Benedict’s (NJ) for this upcoming semester, per Alex Kline of TheRecruitScoop.com. He reported that the 6-foot-8 Duquesne-bound power forward will instead home Canada and train before going off to college. Watkins, a 2013 prospect, is a superb pickup for the Dukes.

According to Scout.com’s Evan Daniels, Austin Grandstaff is transferring from Rockwall (TX) to Huntington Prep (WV). Grandstaff, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard, is one of the top backcourt players in the class of 2015. He is the second elite sophomore to leave Rockwall this season, following No. 6 ranked Elijah Thomas, who transferred to Prime Prep (TX).
