The early signing period is set to begin on Wednesday and that means class of 2013 recruits will finally be able to make their verbal commitments official.

Despite the approach of the signing period, the past few days have been fairly quiet on the recruiting front. However, there was one major commitment from an elite prospect.

Noah Vonleh of New Hampton (NH) committed to the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday night, in news first reported by Scout.com’s Evan Daniels. Vonleh had been ranked No. 6 in the NBE Sports Class of 2014 Post-Summer Top 75 before reclassifying back to the 2013 class.

Now that he is in the senior class, Vonleh may well be amongst the top-10 players in the 2013 class and he is a huge addition for Tom Crean’s program. The 6-foot-8 power forward’s pledge to IU comes only a few weeks after he trimmed his list to six schools. The other finalists were Georgetown, Ohio State, North Carolina, Syracuse, and UConn.

Another player in the NBE Sports 2014 Top 75 also made his commitment recently. Scout.com’s Brian Snow broke the news that Melvin Swift, Jr. of Yates (TX) had popped to Xavier. The 6-foot-7 junior power forward checks in at No. 59 in the rankings and is a big pickup for the Musketeers.

Back to the 2013 class . . . Nigel Hayes has committed to Wisconsin over Ohio State, per ESPN.com’s Reggie Rankin. Hayes is a 6-foot-7 power forward from Whitmer (OH) who had a very strong showing on the AAU circuit this summer.

Schuyler Rimmer of Boone (FL) tweeted his commitment to the Stanford Cardinal. Rimmer is a 6-foot-9 power forward who at one point was committed to Florida, where he would have been a walk-on.

According to the Twitter feed of the Compton Magic AAU program, Greg Sequele pledged to DePaul. The 6-foot-8 power forward is a JuCo prospect out of Citrus College (CA). He had originally committed to Washington State when he was in high school.

Auburn landed a commitment from Ronald Delph, a 7-foot center from IMG Academy (FL). The news of the big man’s decision was first reported by Justin Hokanson of AuburnSports.com.

Major Canady pulls the trigger for Drexel over the weekend.

Drexel landed player who was formerly committed to a Big East program. Major Canady, a one-time South Florida pledge, is now going to play for the Dragons, per Alex Kline of The Recruit Scoop. Canady is a 6-foot-3 combo guard from Kiski Prep (PA).

Alex Kline also had the news that Javion Ogunyemi of Troy (NY) will remain in-state and attend Siena. Ogunyemi is a 6-foot-7 power forward who can really produce in the frontcourt.

Chukwudubem Okeke of Jonesboro (GA) made the decision to attend Winthrop for his college ball. Okeke is a tough, rugged 6-foot-8 center whose commitment was first reported by Brian Snow.

Austin Colbert will decide between Illinois, Miami, Seton Hall & Villanova on Monday (11/12/2012).

According to Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog.com, 6-foot-9 power forward Austin Colbert will be announcing his college choice this afternoon. Illinois, Miami, Seton Hall, and Villanova are the finalists for the big man from Gill St. Bernard’s (NJ). Colbert checks in as the No. 116 ranked player in the NBE Sports Class of 2013 Post-Summer Top 125.

Tyler Roberson is expected to declare his college choice later on this week, also per Adam Zagoria. Roberson, a 6-foot-8 combo forward from Roselle Catholic (NJ), is down to Kansas, Syracuse and Villanova. He is ranked as the No. 39 player in the NBE Sports 2013 Top 125.

Jermaine Lawrence tweeted his final list of schools and there are four programs still in contention. The 6-foot-9 power forward is down to Cincinnati, St. John’s, Syracuse, and UNLV. Lawrence, a New York City native who attends Pope John XXIII (NJ), is ranked No. 24 in the NBE Sports 2013 Top 125.
