RECRUITING NOTEBOOK: (SAM SINGER, TERRENCE SAMUEL & JOSH BROWN)
June 26, 2012 by NBE Blogger · Leave a Comment
Clearing out the notebook from some recent updates we have gathered from players in the Class of 2013. We have updates below on Josh Brown, the Sports U/St. Anthony’s (NJ) point guard that recently de-committed from Temple, Terrence Samuel, a NYC point guard who has been hearing the most for a couple schools since June 15th and Sam Singer, a scoring guard out of Florida who has a long list of schools looking to track him this summer.
Read on below for the lastest on each…
JOSH BROWN COLLECTING OFFERS
When news circulated that Josh Brown was backing off his verbal commitment to Temple which he made last Fall, we knew it wouldn’t be long before his recruitment started to take off. Brown had been very impressive every time NBE saw him during the season at St. Anthony’s as well as on the spring AAU period with Sports U. When we caught up with Brown yesterday he shared with us the schools that have been in contact with him since his decommitment, which also coincided with the June 15th opening of the unlimited contact period.
“Temple, Rhode Island, Virginia, Richmond, St. Joe’s, Memphis, Rutgers, Indiana, Florida Atlantic, Gonzaga, Miami, Penn State [and] Xavier,” said Brown yesterday when asked about the schools in contact with him.
Brown said that Temple, Rhode Island, Virginia, Richmond, St. Joseph’s, Florida Atlantic, Gonzaga and Penn State have extended scholarship offers recently.
As we have said before, when more college coaches get a look at Brown this summer, the offers and interest will come pouring in!

TERRENCE SAMUEL DEFINITELY HAS THREE VISITS IN MIND
He is a proto-typical New York City point guard and Terrence Samuel has some college head coaches after him that have had success in the past with lead guards of his make-up.
“Ive been hearing from Pitt, UConn, Dayton and Rhode Island the most,” said Samuel.
Since the June 15th unlimited contact rule went into effect, Samuel also added that he has heard from Iowa State, Illinois, Tennessee and Temple in addition to the four main suitors.
As a rising senior, Samuel is also starting to formulate a list of schools he would like to use his five allowed official visits to.
“I will definitely take official visits to Pitt, UConn and Rhode Island,” he said.
College coaches can expect to see the South Shore High School product on the AAU circuit this summer with the New Rens program.

SAM SINGER SEEING LIST EXPAND
Sam Singer, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard from Ransom Everglades High School near Miami (FL), turned heads on the AAU circuit all spring with Gold Coast AAU. His recruiting list seemed to get longer and longer after each event, especially diring the two live April evaluation weekends. Now he feels his recruitment might be coming into a little better focus with the introduction of the unlimited contact period earlier this month.
“I’ve been hearing the most from them Stanford, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Tennessee, Kansas State, Davidson, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest and Richmond,” he said. “I’ve been getting heavy interest from NC State who is a new school to contact me.”
Singer also mentioned he had received a recent offer from UAB as well.
NBE looks forward to seeing Singer on the AAU circuit in July and seeing how his recruitment unfolds as he heads toward a commitment in the coming months.
