JOSH HART EMBRACING UNLIMITED CONTACT RULE WITH RECRUITING

Josh Hart, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard out of Washington, DC’s Sidwell Friends School, has had a productive spring and word has spread. Playing with Team Takeover on the AAU trail it has come as no surprise that college coaches are hitting up regularly since the unlimited contact rule went into effect at midnight on June 15th. One school showed their strong interest in Hart by making sure they were the first school he heard from.
“After the rule change North Carolina State texted me first and that was at 12:01 AM,” hart told NBE Sports this evening.
Some of the players we have talked to the last couple days have been a little lukewarm on the new unlimited contact rule, wondering if it will become cumbersome as the months pass. Right now most players are out of school for the summer and the new rule adds excitement. Hart is one that is ready for the calls and texts to come and understands the way society is today that the constant contact is more of the norm.
“Right now I love the new rule change,” he said. “I think it is just a part of today’s electronic age. It has been crazy for me but I look forward to the conversations that the coaches and I have on a daily basis.”
Just looking over his school list, Hart can expect a lot of calls, texts and messages from coaches. Right now he counts offers from Georgetown, Penn State, NC State, Xavier, St.Joe’s, San Diego State, Marquette, Villanova, Richmond, Cincinnati, Penn, William and Mary, George Washington, UMass, Virginia Tech, VCU and interest being shown by Miami, Maryland, Pitt, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Mount St. Mary’s, Memphis, and DePaul.
The new contact rule has opened new relationships for Hart and coaches and he has added a few scholarship offers lately as well.
“The newest offers have been Richmond and Cincinnati,” said Hart.
The offer from the Bearcats came on the heels of their new interest, along with some ACC schools reaching out for the first time.
“The newest interest in the last couple weeks have been Miami, Georgia Tech, Cincinnati [and] Maryland,” Hart added.
Earlier in the month Hart shared with NBE that Georgetown, North Carolina State, San Diego State and George Washington were recruiting him the hardest. Tonight he mentioned the Hoyas, GW and NC State again as three of the four schools being most creative in their unlimited contact, along with St. Joseph’s.
Someone is going to get an underrated and important piece to their recruiting class when Josh Hart makes a college decision. A true glue-guy, every winning team needs a player like him, and it certainly sounds like college coaches are going to value him as an important recruit. Don’t sleep on him, though, he can beat you in several ways and he will keep Team Takeover as a dangerous threat to take home another Peach Jam title in July.
