NEW SCHOOLS ADDED TO LONG LIST OF R.J. CURINGTON

Class of 2013 wing prospect R.J. Curington continues to see his recruiting list get longer before it gets any shorter. The 6-foot-6, 195-pounder attends powerhouse Oak Hill Academy and his national profile is only expected to increase more this season.
With CIA Bounce on the AAU trail Curington has shown to be a dedicated player that understands what it takes to be great. A scoring guard that has some ability to handle the point spot, Curington can lead the break and tends to make good decisions on the fly. Curington has a steady jump shot from behind the three-point line. He rarely forces up shots and plays a unselfish game. He continues to work on his handle and eventually could end up playing a lot of the point position.
It is clear that he has received top notch instruction, which is to be expected coming out of the CIA Bounce program and playing for Coach Smith at Oak Hill. Curington is excited to get the season started at the prep powerhouse in Mouth of Wilson (VA).
“Everything is great at Oak Hill,” he told NBE Sports over the weekend. “We had a scrimmage on the 8th and did great. We have a few more coming up. Our first game is on the 21st of October.”
Obviously playing at Oak Hill presents the opportunity to play top competition with a national schedule. However the biggest opportunity might just be the day in and day out competition players face going up against their own teamates.
“The best part about the program [at Oak Hill] is that I’m improving every day,” he said. “I’m looking forward to being undefeated and win a national championship.”
Curington has been on the recruiting radar of many top programs for some time. The list continues to grow as more and more schools come through Oak Hill and are impressed with his talents.
“There’s a long list of schools,” Curington said, specifically mentioning “Indiana, Purdue, Stanford, DePaul (Buy DePaul Tix), Wake Forest, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Harvard, Northwestern [and] Butler. New schools in the mix are Georgetown (See Hoyas Live), NC State, Vanderbilt [and] Cincinnati (UC Tix).”
Curington currently claims there are no favorites as of now. In regards to what he looks for in a team to interest him, he has some of the common characteristics most look for in a program to get him initially interested.
“I look for where I will fit the best, [at the] coaching and the academics,” he said.
NBE will certainly keep an eye out for R.J. Curington this season. As one of just three juniors on Steve Smith’s Oak Hill Academy Basketball Roster, Curington will have a great opportunity to continue to cement his name among the top players in the 2013 recruiting class. We will continue to monitor his progress on the court and in his recruitment throughout the season.
