DAVON REED ENJOYS SETON HALL VISIT; MORE TRIPS PLANNED
While much of the attention in recent weeks have been paid to the Class of 2012 prospects hitting college campuses for official visits, several 2013 prospects have also used their free time to see some schools for themselves. One player with a very busy visit schedule the next month is Davon Reed. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound shooting guard was able to fit in a BIG EAST visit last weekend.
“I really enjoyed my visit to Seton Hall last Saturday,” Reed told NBE yesterday. “The staff was really welcoming and they seem to be have a bright future for the program! It was an excellent visit!”
Reed was surprised that the campus was bigger than he thought. He was also able to see coach Kevin Willard’s squad hit the court for a preseason workout, which he singled out as the visit’s highlight.
“The workout was probably the highlight for me,” he said. “I wish I could have jumped in.”
Reed is another very good 2013 prospect out of the Team Final program which is currently loaded with top talent in the younger classes (2014 as well). Reed demonstrated the ability to score the basketball very well this summer on the AAU circuit and in addition to his ability to shoot the basketball he can also set teammates up and get to the basket using his size and athletic ability. Reed, who attends Princeton Day School in New Jersey, told NBE earlier on the NIKE EYBL regular season tour that he would like to improve his decision-making and handle this summer to better round out his game for a place in the backcourt of a major college program in the future.
In the addition to his trip to check out Seton Hall, Reed plans to check out several more campuses in the coming weeks.
“Temple and Drexel this Saturday,” Reed replied when asked of additional planned visits. “Harvard September 22nd through 24th. VCU September 29th [and] Xavier October 8th.”
Even with the aggressive visit plans, Reed is not narrowing down his recruiting list. He has previously mentioned interest from and his interest in schools such as Florida, La Salle, Rutgers, West Virginia, St. Joseph’s, Baylor, Ohio State, Miami, Xavier, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, DePaul, Georgetown and others throughout the summer when NBE has had the chance to talk with him.
“I’m considering everyone right now, haven’t quite narrowed down a list,” said Reed, explaining there are currently no leaders or favorites in his recruitment.
NBE will certainly keep a close eye on the recruitment of Davon Reed as it moves forward over the course of the next year. We will hope to follow-up with the exciting Class of 2013 guard following his whirlwind schedule of campus visits later in the fall as the season approaches.
