KANSAS MAKES BIG IMPRESSION ON MIKAEL HOPKINS

Plenty of Big East, ACC and other schools hoping 2011 DeMatha big man falls their way

It became clear to NBE at the Hoophall Classic this past January that DeMatha Catholic big man Mikael Hopkins had become one of the top bigs in the class of 2011. The junior improves every time NBE has seen him over the past several months, and is developing into a go-to-guy on the block. Hopkins was able to get terrific position for rebounds and entry passes, and finished well back in January in a contest against California power Mater Dei. He has also expanded his game, adding a face-up jumper and dribbling ability to his repertoire. One highlight that stuck out was where he spun past a defender off the dribble for an impressive finish.

This weekend Hopkins travelled with his AAU program, Team Takeover DC, to Neptune (NJ) for the Playaz Spring Fling. Earlier today Matt Whitfield caught up with him to get the latest on his recruitment which has certainly taken off to include some of the nation’s biggest programs.
