NCAA Tournament pairings information and ticket resources for Big East teams
The tournament selection committee has set the field of 65 and now the action of March Madness truly gets underway beginning on Tuesday with the play-in game and Thursday and Friday with the first round of the 2010 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Once again the Big East led all conferences with eight teams selected including the No. 1 seed in the West Region, Syracuse. The Orange open their quest for Jim Boeheim’s fourth Final Four appearance in Buffalo on Friday against 16th seed Vermont. Of course there is some NCAA Tournament history between the two schools as the Catamounts upset the No. 4 seed Orange in an opening round game in overtime back in 2005.
Here are your links to purchase tickets for the games in Buffalo:

Gonzaga and Florida State are the 8/9 match-up in the West also in Buffalo this week.
Joining the Orange in Buffalo this week is the 2010 Big East Tournament champion and conference’s automatic bid winner the West Virginia Mountaineers. WVU earned one of the conference’s two No. 2 seeds and Bob Huggins’ crew is placed in the East Region. Despite having a good case for a No. 1 seed, the Mountaineers have to like their draw where they take on Morgan State in an opening round in Buffalo and if they can advance will meet the winner of a 7/10 match-up between Clemson and Missouri. A trip to the Sweet 16 would mean West Virginia would be in the Carrier Dome for the Regionals. Tickets to the Syracuse regional can be purchased below…

Joining the Orange out West is one of the two No. 3 seeds out of the Big East, Pittsburgh. The Panthers open their NCAA Tournament play with a game against Oakland in Milwaukee on Friday. The 6/11 match-up in Milwaukee features Xavier and Minnesota. If the seeds hold up a re-match in round two of a Sweet 16 match-up between Pitt and Xavier would come to fruition.
Both the Orange and the Panthers are hoping to advance to the West Regionals in Salt Late City. Here are the ticket links for those games in the tournament’s second weekend:

Another Big East team joining WVU in the East Regional hoping to advance to Syracuse is Marquette as the Golden Eagles are the No. 6 seed in the region. Buzz Williams’ crew earn a tough draw as the head West to San Jose for a Thursday opening round match-up with Washington out of the PAC 10. Potential second-round opponents are surprising No. 3 seed New Mexico and 14th seed Montana for MU at the HP Pavilion. Georgetown is the Big East’s lone representative in the Midwest and takes the region’s No. 3 seed. Despite a 10-8 conference record, the run to the Big East Tournament championship game and one of the highest rated strength of schedules help the Hoyas land in the Big East city of Providence for their start to the Big Dance. Greg Monroe and company will face the MAC champion Ohio Bobcats on Thursday and if they can advance past the 14th seed they will meet either Tennessee or San Diego State in the second round at the ‘Dunk’. Here are your Providence ticket links:
– Dunkin Donuts Center (Providence, RI)

The Hoyas hope to escape Providence, where they did play and win earlier this season, and head to the Midwest Regionals in St. Louis where Ohio State (No. 2) and Kansas, the tournament’s overall #1 seed, could be waiting. JTIII has led his Hoyas to battle against Ohio State twice before in the NCAA Tournament, beating the Buckeyes in a 2006 second round game and losing the the Greg Oden-led squad in the 2007 Final Four. Here are you ticket resources for St. Louis:
March 26th and 28th:
– Midwest Region: Edward Jones Dome (St. Louis)
NCAA Tournament Midwest Regional Tickets – Session 1 (Semifinals) March 26 2010
NCAA Tournament Midwest Regional Tickets – Session 2 (Final) March 28 2010
The South Region has a strong Big East feel to it as Villanova (No. 2), Notre Dame (No. 6) and Louisville (No. 9) will all represent the conference hoping to make it Houston for the second weekend of March Madness.
Jay Wright’s squad opens up their quest for a second consecutive Final Four appearance Thursday joining conference rival Georgetown in Providence (RI) when they take on NEC champion Robert Morris. If they can avoid the upset they will play the winner of the 7/10 match-up between Richmond and St. Mary’s on Saturday in their attempt to make it into the Regional Semifinals in Houston. Ticket opportunities for Houston are as follows:
– South Region: Reliant Stadium (Houston, TX)
NCAA Tournament South Regional Tickets – Session 1 (Semifinals) March 26 2010
NCAA Tournament South Regional Tickets – Session 2 (Final) March 28 2010
If the Wildcats make it to Houston there is a chance their Sweet 16 opponent could be a Big East rival as Mike Brey and Notre Dame will be hoping to meet them there as the region’s No. 6 seed. The Irish begin their tournament trek on Thursday in New Orleans against the 11th seed, Old Dominion. Also in the New Orleans pod standing in the way of a possible rematch with ‘Nova is the 3/14 duo of Baylor and Sam Houston State. Here are your ticket links for New Orleans…

The eighth and final Big East team in the Field of 65 is the South’s No. 9 seed, Louisville. Rick Pitino and the Cards will take on No. 8 seed California in Jacksonville (FL) on Friday. UL beat Syracuse twice this season and if they get past their opening round game, against a team the Orange beat thoroughly in November, this is probably a match-up No. 1 seed Duke is not looking ahead to all that match in round two. The Blue Devils will play against Tuesday night’s winner in their first round game. Links to tickets in Jacksonville are as follows…
