Tracy Webster has been an assistant in the MAC, the Big Ten, the SEC and now the Big East.
Not all that long ago Webster was considered an assistant that was real close to breaking through and getting his own job, then he made a wrong move (although it looked right at the time) by joining Billy Gillispie at Kentucky.
We all know how that worked out.
Now, according to several sources, Webster will get the same shot Andy Kennedy did a few years back at Cincinnati. Webster will be named the coach at DePaul on an interim basis this morning at a press conference. Jerry Wainwright is out, as we all know by now, and Webster will get most of the Big East season and the 2010 Big East tournament to impress either his administration, or another athletic director in need of a coach, that he has the goods to run his own program.
Webster once ran the point for Thornton High in Harvey (Illinois) and then at Wisconsin. He’ll now spend the next few months trying to make a point to DePaul AD Jean Lenti-Ponsetto.
