Scouting Report: May 2012: Never been a fan of player rankings, but how one site has Johnson ranked 61st in the 2014 class is beyond confusing. Johnson’s got a mature build right now, and while the perimeter shot could use a little work he’s very good when it comes to finishing in traffic as well as with contact. He’s only going to get better as the perimeter shot comes along. Johnson finished their win over All-Iowa Attack with 22 points and 14 rebounds (Raphielle Johnson at EYBL: Oakland).
Dec 2011: Really put together physically already. Scores the ball, goes to the boards and shares it too (3 assists). 20 points and 8 rebounds. Can hit the three. Made the most of his touches by getting to the line 8 times and converting 7 of them. Shot 6-13 on the game. Really good prospect. Didn’t show the elite label that’s been put on him by some but it was only a one game showing and he’s definitely a player (Ray Mernagh at CRC Classic).
June 2011: Johnson took advantage of the opportunity to take on the likes of Shabazz Muhammad and Winston Shepard, attacking the basket while also showing off the ability to knock down outside shots. The one thing Johnson needs to work on is that “last step” when getting inside; there were a few points left on the board. As his physical strength gets better the finishing ability will come along (Raphielle Johnson at Pangos AA Camp).
