Scouting Reports: June 2011 - The 6’2” point guard didn’t put up the most impressive stat line but showed flashes of what could make him a strong mid to high-major point guard. Carey has outstanding size for the point guard position and rebounds the ball extremely well. Multiple times in this game he grabbed a defensive board and took off creating a transition opportunity at the other end for his team. Carey has above average speed in the open floor and is equally adept at finishing plays at the rim himself or finding open teammates. He has good body control in the air and did a great job of creating contact on penetration and working his way to the free throw line. Carey’s strong 6’2” frame in conjunction with his speed also makes him a high level defender of the point guard spot. He can’t be outmuscled by opposing guards but has the foot speed to keep up as well which makes him a difficult matchup (Brian Bosworth at Rumble in the Bronx).

June 2010 – Carey, who played with NJ Elite last summer, has really improved his all-around game since the last time we saw him. He hit several three-pointers, many of the knuckleball variety, which he struggled with last season. He also showed an ability to get into the lane and finish or distribute. Carey can score with contact at the rim. Defensively, he is very aggressive and is adept at racking up steals and starting fast breaks (Jeff Borzello at Rumble in the Bronx).

June 2009 – One of the rising players in New Jersey basketball, Carey looked smooth with the ball and was not afraid of going up and finishing around the rim with contact. He had good drives to the basket, both down the lane and baseline. The athletic guard showed a semblance of a mid-range game, and also had an excellent play where he spun around a defender and drove to the rim. Defensively, he plays the passing lanes well. However, he did not show much of an outside shot, consistently driving past defenders instead (Jeff Borzello at HBC Summer Metro Showcase).
