Trevor Cooney

Scouting Reports: April 2010 - Cooney, who I’ve seen before, has worked very hard. He might be the best pure shooter in the country. He knocked down several three-pointers but didn’t take any bad ones, he played patiently and shared the ball. He also has been working in the weight room on his leg strength because he’s got more hop than I remember him having last summer. Cooney dunked easily 2 or 3 times off of two feet but his biggest “wow” moment came when Johnson threw him a lob that he had to gather with one hand — his left — and throw down. Cooney did it without a hint of trouble. Will be a weapon at the next level because he can shoot it from the hash if need be and possesses the skills and intelligence to make plays with the pass or off the bounce when pressured out high. Extremely impressed with this kid and he was very polite as well when I apoke to him briefly (Ray Mernagh at Pittsburgh Jam Fest).

June 2009 – Trevor was able to hit a couple jumpers in this contest. He struggled to hit consistently from the outside though. He had a few nice drives to the hoop and dished off on one of them. He should attack more. Trevor was solid for Team Final (Brian Crownover at Rumble in the Bronx).
