Mikael Hopkins

Scouting Reports: July 2010 – Hopkins gets better every game we see him play. He has developed into one of the top big men in his class, with the ability to back a defender down and finish with post moves or shoot mid-range jumpers with his face-up game. He is not afraid of thicker, stronger defenders and shows confidence when turning to the basket. Defensively, he is very athletic and can block shots and rebound. Hopkins also runs the floor well (Jeff Borzello at Nike EYBL Peach Jam).

Dec 2009 – Hopkins was absolutely dominant against Benedictine on Saturday. From the opening tip, he demonstrated his enormous potential. Offensively, he showed several impressive post moves, including a turnaround jumper that he utilized multiple times. He scored at will once he got the ball down low, and was also active on the offensive glass. Defensively, his athleticism and length made opponents change their shots once they got into the lane, but he was still able to block a couple of shots.
