Maurice Harkless

Scouting Reports: June 2010 - Harkless had his ups and downs this weekend at Fordham. During group play, he demonstrated improved quickness and speed, beating defenders off the dribble and finishing at the rim. Harkless also knocked down perimeter shots on a consistent basis. He was one of the bigger players on the Panthers, so his defense on opposing big men was impressive. In fact, he scored at least 25 points in two separate pool play games. On the downside, he struggled at times, reverting to a passive offensive repertoire and getting beaten on defense (Jeff Borzello at Rumble in the Bronx).

April 2009 – Great ball handler who proved he could take it to the tin on anyone during this event. A unique threat as a 6-foot-6 forward with handle, Harkless can dribble around traffic but doesn’t fall in love with dominating the basketball like most youngsters at his level do. Forms a formidable 1-2 punch at Hills with guard Andre Armstrong at Hills. Good athleticism and good glasswork. Harkless is a highly-touted recruit who New York talent evaluator Tom Konchalski likens to West Virginia’s Devin Ebanks (Zach Smart at Hoop Group Elite NY Top 100).
