Scouting Reports: May 2010 - While Smith is a solid offensive player, with the ability to score at the rim off a spin move or hit jumpshots from the perimeter, I think that his biggest impact will be made on the backboards and at the defensive. When it comes to rebounding, Smith boxes out well and also uses his athleticism to corral plenty of boards. Defensively, Smith has the ability to be a nightmare for opponents. He is extremely long and can guard multiple positions. He defends the passing lanes and can also block shots (Jeff Borzello at Southern Jam Fest).
April 2010 - Finney-Smith is going to be a player to watch out for as the circuit progresses. The 6-foot-7 small forward is very athletic and long, and has a nice touch from the free-throw line. Smith can hit jumpers on occasion, although he needs to become more consistent. He is very unselfish and is a solid passer. Smith can finish at the rim well, and had a very impressive one-handed follow dunk off a miss (Jeff Borzello at Nike EYBL – Boo Willaims).
