NOTRE DAME TRANSFER MARTIN OUT FOR YEAR
October 2, 2009 by NBE Blogger · Leave a Comment
In a big blow for Mike Brey and the Notre Dame Men’s basketball team, Purdue transfer Scott Martin tore the ACL in his left knee in a workout Thursday and Jeff Goodman of FoxSports.com reports that the Irish Lose Forward Martin for the Year.
Martin, who sat out last season after transferring from Purdue, was expected to start this season. As a freshman on an NCAA Tournament team at Purdue, Martin averaged 8.5 points a game and 3.8 rebounds. He expected to be the perfect forward compliment to inside horse Luke Harangody and would fit the Irish system used by Brey very well.
“I am very disappointed for Scott,” Brey said in a statement. “He had worked so hard last season in practices and in the weight room improving his overall strength and getting himself ready to be a big part of our lineup this season.”
