As we work to get up and running from Mesquite High School for the Desert Duel Memorial basketball tournament, let’s take a run through the latest news and notes from the web that impacts the Big East conference.

There are some recruiting news and notes from the AAU events that have been going on in Vegas and Orlando as well as an update on Adreian Payne and a story on Sean Kilpatrick getting started at Cincinnati and Terrence Jennings feeling like a veteran already at Louisville.

Check back later for news and notes fromt he Desert Duel…

——————–

He is just a sophomore at Louisville, but Terrence Jennings is UL’s Newest Old Hand (Louisville Courier-Journal) as he can sympathize with the latest group of Card freshman as they try to get acclimated to the college way of things. The 6-foot-9 Jennings came along slowly last season, but finished strong and coach Rick Pitino will like to use Jennings on the floor with Samardo Samuels this season.

Super 64 Title Goes Down to the Buzzer (Las Vegas Review-Journal) as Chris Crawford hit a running 15-footer which capped Memphis Magic’s rally from a 50-34 deficit to defeat the NE Playaz 64-62 in the championship contest.

The Memphis Magic is one of the teams we are very excited to see here in the Desert Duel.

At the Center Stage tournament, Jackson Jeffcoat’s 16 points were not enough as his Dallas Heroes squad fell to I-5 Elite in the championship game. Jeffcoat is the son of former Dallas Cowboys’ Jim Jeffcoat. The 6-foot-5, 240-lb power forward, who is also an elite football recruit, plans to play both sports in college and is reported to be looking at Southern California, Arizona State, Stanford, UCLA, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida and Notre Dame.
