BEST POINT GUARD AT LJSA: PHIL PRESSEY

Phil Pressey is a consumate point guard.
The diminuative kid — listed at 5-11 (no way) — plays much older than his years. He never penetrated too deep with his dribble and he never gave his dribble up resulting in a no-man’s land situation — something a lot of his peers did at this camp constantly.
Pressey made the right pass at the right time in almost every situation he found himself in. If I was a college coach I would love to have this kid running my club.
Furiously fast with his dribble, but always under control, Pressey will win a ton of games in his college career especially if — like in this camp — he’s surrounded by big time talent. Pressey makes that kind of talent better, he makes it shine, as his teammates found out here in Akron.
Phil Pressey will get it done at the next level, just give him the ball, and let him orchestrate. His size won’t be a detriment because he’s physically stronger than most his size. Pressey looks to get his guys going first and foremost, but will get to the rim and finish (he’ll throw it down on you if you blink).
Not sure if he has a jumpshot because, in all honesty, he never felt the need to take one except once when his coach did run a play for him that got him a 17-footer that he missed.
It is the understanding of NBE that Connecticut will be looking at him during the July open evaluation periods. Pressey previously played on the same BABC AAU program as UConn 2009 commits Alex Oriakhi and Jamal Cooms-McDaniel.
