MYLES DAVIS HEARING FROM COLLEGE COACHES

Talented 2011 guard getting calls from coaches regularly
The middle of June each year is an interesting recruiting milestone as it represents the first time college coaches can call high schools sophomores (rising juniors). To many players in the current class of 2011, this is the first concrete evidence they have that a college is interested in them and will be following them during the busy July open evaluation period.
This year, the open evaluation period might be a little different as college coaches will be paying more attention to the rising seniors (class of 2010) as they were not allowed to be on the road in April. So, recruiting the class of 2010 is somewhat behind.
However, in the case of Myles Davis, a 6-foot-2, 180-lb guard from St. Peter’s Prep and member of the NJ Playaz AAU program, college coaches have made it clear they will be following him during the July live period, which kicks off tomorrow, July 6th.
“Wake Forest, St. Joe’s, Rutgers, Arizona State, Maryland, UV, Providence, Marquette, Marist, Pitt, George Mason, Houston [and] UMass,” replied Davis when NBE asked what schools he has been hearing from recently since the coaches were allowed to call him.

Davis impressed NBE at the recent Rumble in the Bronx last month when Brian Crownover saw him in action in a Saturday contest when playing for the NJ Playaz where he had his shot really working from the outside. He knocked down three from beyond the arc, including one of the pull up variety. He followed that up with a runner in the lane before hitting another three-pointer. Myles is good at attacking off the dribble too. He finished or drew fouls on several occasions.
At the Rumble, Davis also told NBE that he also likes Kentucky, Louisville, Seton Hall and Arizona. He also mentioned that he hopes to visit UVA and Pittsburgh soon.
Davis is not ready to narrow his recruiting or claim any leaders at this stage. Currently, he is taking everything in as he prepares for a busy July which will include time at the Reebok All-American Camp, Nike Peach Jam and a trip to Vegas with his AAU team.
“Every school has impressed me a lot, I like everybody,” stated Davis.
After averaging over 17 points and around 7 rebounds and 5 assists last season at St. Peter’s, Davis has used a strong spring to springboard his game towards an important month of July. Once the month is through, we will not be surprised to see many more schools making it clear they intent to recruit Myles Davis here on out.
