Elite 2010 forward narrows college list to top 10 of schools he is considering

It has been a very productive summer for 6-foot-8 forward Tobias Harris. He has played well on the court in front of many college coaches, been on the campus of many top programs, has chosen a new high school for the coming season and has narrowed his broad list of college choices to a more manageable ‘top 10′.

“As the summer concludes and Tobias prepares for his Junior year of high school, he has been able to confidently pick a strong list of 10 favorites schools,” Tobias’ father Torrel Harris Sr informed the NBE Basketball Report earlier this evening in an e-mail.

“The hectic schedule Tobias has endured over the past three months has allowed him to intimately learn about many schools’ style of play, campus, facilities, academic programs and support, as well as establishing a relationship with the coaching staffs,” Mr. Harris continued.

For now, in no particular order, there are the 10 schools that have made the initial cut, according to Mr. Harris:

Louisville, Syracuse, Rutgers, Georgetown, Virginia, Maryland, Marquette, West Virginia, Wake Forest and USC.

Mr. Harris was clear in indicating this is a top 10 list of schools, the favorites per say, not a final list, however.

“Tobias’ favorites are not necessarily excluding any other schools from his selection, but it is important to Tobias to be a part of a program that is truly interested in him, Torrel Harris Sr., said. “All of these schools have watched him develop over the summer and have an understanding of his game and how to help him continue to improve as a player.”

Previously, Tobias has attended Half Hallows Hills West High School, but this coming school year he will be attending Lutheran High School on Long Island.

“Tobias will also be attending Lutheran High School next year and feels the move will continue to help his game develop,” his father said. “It is important to face the best competition and we felt the schedule Half Hollow Hills West plays would simply not challenge Tobias enough to further improve his game.”

This past weekend, Tobias took an unofficial visit to Syracuse and participated in their Elite Camp and also made a trip to Louisville for their football game against Kentucky. We will have more on his visits later…
