Top 2010 prospect swing by Marquette, Texas, UCLA and USC before heading back to Rutgers

Tobias Harris continued the whirlwind cross-country college campus tour with stops at Marquette, Texas, UCLA, USC and then a trip back across country to play at Rutgers for a camp.

First up on the latest leg of the Tobias Harris Tour was a stop at Buzz Williams’ elite camp at Marquette.

“Marquette elite camp was very intense, you had to play at a high level of intensity. Lots of high level intensity drills,” according to Tobias’ father, Torrel Harris Sr. “Coach Buzz and his staff work everyone hard, a very energetic coach who care about his players,” Mr. Harris continued.

From Marquette is was down to the state of Texas to visit Rick Barnes and his Longhorn program.

“(The) Texas elite camp was good. Tobias played well at the camp,” Torrel indicated to the NBE Basketball Report. “Coach Barnes told Tobias he loves the way he plays with his natural instinct for the game and that if he continues to work hard he could be real special player,” Mr. Harris proudly stated.

The trip out to California was an emotional roller coaster for Tobias. Participating in the UCLA elite instructional camp was a definite high point, as expected, coach Ben Howland was an impressive figure on the sidelines. His time on the left coast also was positive when he made an unofficial visit to USC where the facilities and coach Tim Floyd left a definite positive impression.

However, in between the stops at UCLA and USC, Tobias made a stop in Pala Verde for the funeral of childhood friend Morgan Child and former youth league teammate Morgan Child. Morgan had moved to California several years ago with his father, but recently passed away at age 16 due to a rare blood disease. Thoughts and prayers go out to Morgan’s friends and family.

After the unofficial, Tobias returned back to the east coast where he headed right to Rutgers on Sunday for a camp on their campus and complete a whirlwind June that saw him also attend camps and make visits to Kansas, West Virginia, Virginia, Louisville and St. John’s.

Torrel Harris also informed us that his son, as of last week, has scholarship offers from Louisville, Connecticut, Indiana, Maryland, Marquette, Baylor, St. John’s, West Virginia, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Miami, Delaware, Hofstra and North Carolina State. Others that have begun to show more interest beginning this month include Kansas, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Auburn, Seton Hall, Texas, Arizona State, Memphis, Oklahoma, Providence, DePaul and Syracuse.
