Good Counsel High Guard also excels on the gridiron

Louis Young will have a decision to make in the future, but for now the 6-foot-one, 185 lb point guard is content to let the process play out as a very interesting college prospect in two sports.

“At this time I will not make a decision on what sport I want to pursue until after my my upcoming junior basketball season, in which I will just focus on one sport for the remaining of the summer (2009) and my senior year in 2009-2010,” Young told the NBE Basketball Report.

It is probably a good idea not to rush the process. His football traits make him a very interesting basketball player as well. His solid frame gives him an edge over many guards he is matched up against. Even without fully devoting his time in basketball, Young has definitely shown the potential to be a high-major basketball player and coaches have noticed.

“At this time I’m hearing from Marquette, George Mason, Maryland, William & Mary, Navy, Stanford, Richmond, James Madison, Clemson, NC State, and Harvard,” Young said. “I currently hold an offer from William & Mary University.”

On the gridiron, Young plays wide receiver and cornerback and has an impressive football following such as schools like Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Maryland, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Tennessee, etc.

Playing two sports will keep him very busy this summer. For hoops, Young told us, “I will be attending Richmond and James Madison elite camps, and also Eastern Invititational where I made the all star game (last year).”

“I will be attending elite football camps for Maryland, Boston College, and Virgina Tech. This will be a busy summer for me as basketball and football coaches are both interested, and I thank god everyday for blessing me with the ability to perfrom and showcase my athleticism,” Young stated.

With a good head on his shoulders and athletic talent to spare, expect to see Louis Young excelling in college in whatever sport he chooses to pursue full-time.
